John Faulds Scholarship 2009

The third John Faulds scholarship was awarded to Andreea Brezeanu of London Ontario. Ms. Brezeanu graduated from Wilfred Laurier University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Financial Management (Hons) and is enrolled in a Master of Science program in Management and Risk at the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University, Manhattan, N.Y.

Her goal is to pursue a career in risk management because it encompasses and influences all areas of business. After completing her Masters in Management of Risk, she plans to work her way up the corporate ladder to be a Chief Risk Officer. Ultimately, her dream is to establish her own consulting firm and to share her future knowledge by teaching and mentoring people the way she has been taught and mentored throughout her life.

The scholarship is named after the late John Faulds, who was taken from us at an early age. He was Vice President of Ranger Oil Ltd. and had the responsibility for shareholder relations and risk management functions for many years. He was an avid supporter of risk management education, and a number of companies had donated funds to establish a scholarship in his name through the Foundation. The scholarship is for $5000 and is periodically awarded to students in graduate programs that meet the qualifying criteria.
